Bekah  The math SAT scores are widely believed to be a good predictor of the ability to handle college level math. Many attribute high math SAT's to problem solving skills in systems, markets, engineering and the like. If we had two kids and one scored 680 and the other 380, there may be debates about the bias of the test  but the way to bet is on the 680 kid. So if the  math SAT can serve as a predictor of problem solving skills and the like, what indicators do we have to predict relationship success to help our boy Ari on his  journey for love? We all know that physical attraction is a big factor. We also know that attraction can overwhelm other considerations and lead to hasty conclusions. For example, let’s review this bachelor exchange with a beautiful  “ Heidi Klum class”  contestant : Bachelor :  "So, did you go to school out in California?" “Heidi Klum Class”  chick :  "Well,I had  a little trouble finishing up school" Bac

Some people are just born blessed . For example , there are some young men who can throw a baseball 95 mph. I have thrown baseballs my whole life and  never came near 95 on my best days. A young pitcher throwing  95’s generates a lot of attention . Crowds come to see his games. People expect him to sail right to the major leagues and  enjoy years of  fame and fortune. But when this blessed athlete arrives at a major league camp in spring training, he finds there are 25 guys who can throw 95 mph. Additionally, there are plenty of hitters who can hit a 95 MPH fastball 400 feet.  At this moment, our blessed pitcher learns his evolutionary advantage of being able to throw 95 mph is no longer enough.  A pitcher has to distinguish himself beyond throwing hard. He has demonstrate command of the fastball, establish secondary pitches, throw strikes with all the pitches, and change  speed of his pitches  in order to be successful at this level . Each level to the top of the pyramid is steeper

Ari leads his horde to the demolition derby The producers tee us up for a night of meeting some of our contestants by announcing we have 2  one on one dates and a group date . I am almost expect to hear the price is right  guy shout  “ Come on down”  to start the festivities.   Becca brings midwestern sincerity to the show Our first date is with Becca. Becca is a dark haired beauty from Minnesota and stands out amongst all the seemingly familiar herd of blonds in the house. Becca gets treated to a  shopping festival where designer Rachel Zoe walks in to produce a bunch of dresses for Becca to try on and prance around for Ari –who seems to enjoy eating  oysters while offering outfit tips. I never heard of Rachel Zoe but then again you are not likely to hear me say “ I will take designers for $400. Alex”.  So far Becca seems sane and even sincere which is rare in Bachelor land  and we move on to the dining portion of our date where we expect the hardship back story.

We start the New Year off with the premiere of  The Bachelor with our boy Ari .Ari is a former race car driver trying to find love among 29 woman  who are trying to get their own show as next season's Bachelorette. We get a recap of Ari’s appearance a few years back. We watch his moment  being kicked to the curb as Bachelorette Emily chose a guy named Jef ( yes, jef with one F) to get the final rose.  The relationship Jef with one F lasted about a week and a half  and we have doubts they ever found the other F.   Over the past seasons we were reminded Ari  was “out there” chatting up chicks in Scottsdale  with the threat  he might  be back as The Bachelor. Indeed, Ari is back. We learn he augments his race-car driver life  working as a real estate salesman in Scottsdale , Arizona -one of my favorite places. I am hoping they find time to show us some property . Given our weather Scottsdale looks really good to me. After we “catch up” on our boy who is now late 36 or s
